Should I Be Concerned About Large Stool When I Am On A Low Calorie Diet?

Good evening,
I’ve been on a very calorie low diet since the new year, and also have been put on blood pressure medication. Strange thing to me is even consuming around or less than 1000 calories a day, my stool movement has decreased to once a day but is still quite large considering my intake. Should I be concerned?

Hello,

If you are taking a lot of probiotics, high antioxidants, high fiber in fruits and vegetables then it can cause the stool volume to increase. No, you need not worry about large stool. Bigger bowel movements are indicative of a healthier body. Large stool is better as you will not suffer from constipation, risk of appendicitis, colon cancer, diverticulitis, etc. Stay adequately hydrated. Take water and fluids. Take smaller meals multiple times a day. Avoid sedentary lifestyle and avoid using laxatives.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
