Should I Be Concerned About Green/orange/yellow Phlegm In My Chest?

I was diagnosed with costochondritis about three months ago due to sore ribs. I've noticed I have not been able to fill my lungs to full capacity in this time, experiencing shortness of breath whilst exercising or doing daily activities (whilst the costochondritis has subsided). Four days ago I started to have flu-like symptoms. This only lasted two days, then had a day where I felt better, but now today I feel so much worse, have so much phlegm in my chest (spitting out big light green with dark green specks, orange and yellow phlegm).

Should I consult a doctor?

Hi thanks for contacting HCM...

Noted you have green phlegm with slight dyspnea.
So here yes should consult doctor for that.

Here first you could have bronchitis like condition....
Chest x ray useful....

If fever present then x ray done for consolidation to rule out pneumonia...

It is better to investigate with sputum examination and preferebally culture...
According to which if need antibiotic given...

Pulmonary function test also useful...

So keeping this in mind it is better to investigate properly by consulting doc

Take care
