Should Enalapril Be Taken Again After Vomiting?

My grand father is taking enalapril as a treatment for his bood pressure. Recently he had to take SMZ/TMPDS 800-160 TAB AMN for his bladder infection. However, he keeps vomiting after he takes his medicine. We are aware that its a side effect but he s scared if he vomits the enalapril with the food he ate? And if he does that should he take it again?

Hello,

If he's vomited the pill and you can identify it (a whole pill or part of it) then he can take another one. Otherwise, it would be risky. Unless he's vomited right after taking it, it's not 100% certain that the pill had not been at least partly absorbed or that it had been vomited.

If he always vomits after taking the antibiotic then you should talk to his doctor in order to substitute it with another antibiotic. The infection might be undertreated if he doesn't take the required dosage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
