Should Daoinil Be Taken If Blood Sugar Is Well Controlled?
Im 45 yrs old and 10 yrs diabetic, before im taking galvus 50 with actos 30, my fbs is 122. My new dr change my meds to januvia and daonil 2.5 in the morning ang 1 daoinil at dinner, i chk my sugar 4 hours after dinner its only 77. Is it ok to continue this meds? This is my first day to take these meds. Im afraid i will suffer hypoglycemia. After i finish my breakfast 5 hours ago my sugar level goes to 70 mgdl.
Dear i can understand you concern i my opinion the changes done by your doctor are not very pleasing. Daonil is also called as glibenclamide. this medication is associated with high rate of severe hypoglycemia and its not good for your heart. each time you suffer a hypoglycemia there will a chance of cardiac arrhythmia and brain damage. most of our brain depends only on glucose for its daily activities. due to excessive use of daonil your pancreas might go into secondary failure soon. There are many other medications like amaryl and diamicron mr and minidiab which are having better cardiometabolic profile. i suggest to discuss with your doc regarding change of medication. Regards
