Should Clindamycin Be Discontinued Due To Risk Of Pouch Damage?
I had gastric bypass in 2007. My doc put me on clidamycin and know I have a faint red rash. Also I am concerned about my pouch being damaged. Should I discontinue? I also had part of my intestine removed do a blockage. I'm worried that it is going to do harm than good. I was diagnosed with gardnerella.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of gastric bypass in 2007. Developed a faint rash on Clindamycin. Worried about the Pouch of stomach. There is a also a history of removal of the part of the intestines due to blockage. Now diagnosed with Gardnerella. I would advise you the following: Stop Clindamycin with immediate effect. Consult your Doctor and get a prescription of metronidazole for days and you will be fine. No, this would not affect the gastric pouch at all.
