Shortness Of Breath, Diagnosed With ALS. What Could Be The Reason ?

I started having a shortness of breath in the Fall of 2010. I only required a ventilator at night, I had a mild heart attack in September 2012 and am on the vent 24/7. No doctor could tell me why or even help me. One pulmonologist said my lungs were fine but I was anorexic. A neurologist I saw in the Fall of 2011 diagnosed me with ALS but nothing regarding the breathing. I live in Warren MI and my name is AAAAA. Thank you.

Hi welcome to health care magic forum.
There are various possible causes including ALS which can leadt to shortness of breath but usually this is late sign of ALS and serious sign of nerve damage.other causes are pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, heart disease, anxiety or hiatal hernia. You need to do extensive workup to rule these out. Wish you good health. Regards
