Shortness Of Breath, Balance Problems. Echo Test Shows Mitral Valve Leak. How Serious Is This?
Hello, Results from my echo came back and the doctor said that I have a mild mitral valve leak. He assured me that there was nothing to worry about. I am extremly worried. I have been having shortness of breath with constant yawning and a general sense of being off balance. How serious is this mild mitral valve leak?
I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms and the mitral valve leak.
Many healthy individuals have mild mitral valve leak and it is rarely of concern unless it causes symptoms of heart dysfunction. You shouldn't get worried about this. I believe you may not be feeling too well but yawning and balance problems are rarely linked to the heart.
I will suggest that you plan with your doctor for follow up monitoring of the mitral valve leak so as to get any changes and start the necessary measures to address them early.
I hope this helps and I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask more questions if need be. Dr. Ditah, MD
