Short Term Memory Loss, Fatigue After Aortic Valve Replacement Surgery. Clot In Brain For Giving Him Noradrenaline?

My husband had an aortic valve replacement in 2009. His normal systolic BP is 80-90. During the surgery they gave him Noradrenaline. He was confused after surgey, has severe short term memory loss, fatigue, not his normal self and a year later he was finally diagnosed as having a brain injury. The changes took place after the surgery.
Is it possible that he had a clot go to his brain as his BP went up to up 210/130 after having the noradrenalin.?

Dear Ma'am,

Thanks for posting your query on this website. I fully appreciate your concerns.

Firstly, I am not privy to your husband's 2-D Echo and other reports, done prior to surgery.

If the Echo report had shown any vegetation/clot inside the heart, it is possible that it might have dislodged and gone to the brain, leading to brain damage.

Also, noradrenaline is given only in cases of drastic fall in blood pressure during surgery...

It is therefore, only the treating surgeons who can tell you what exactly happened during the surgery

I am confident that you will certainly benefit from the advice.

May I assure you that I am always available for your assistance and will try my best to cure your condition to the best of my experience and knowledge.

Please feel free to revert back to me in case of further clarifications, if any.

HAVE A NICE DAY AND A SPEEDY RECOVERY.

Fond Regards,

Dr.(Col) R Karanwal
