Sharp, Stabbing Pains In The Right Side Of Head. Sound In Ear, Bloodshot Eyes. Reason For Symptoms?

Thank you. I have been getting sharp, stabbing pains to my right, temple and right side of my head. They are random, short, and brutal. Since these pains started, I have noticed a sound in my ear, like reverb. This occurs when I have the phone to my right ear. Also, and not normal for me, bloodshot eyes everyday despite restful sleep. No, I don't consume alcohol.
Thanks. All the above started at the same time.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these pains that you have been experiencing. From the information you have provided, the suspicion of trigerminal neuralgia is high on my list. This nerves supplies one half of the face and frequent, exaggerrated and uncontrolled excitation of this nerve can cause this pain. I will suggest that you get in contact with your doctor for examination and confirmation. The initial best medical treatment is carbamazepine and treatment can be monitored and adjusted over time depending on response to treatment.

I hope you find this helpful and it addresses your query fully. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. I wish you the best of health.
