Severely Constipated After Antibiotics Course, Developed Aversion To Pass Stools. Any Medicine To Loosen The Stools ?

Hi. My son is 2.5 years old. He gets severely constipated post antibiotic medication. He is presently extremely constipated and was given an enema last Wednesday. Even after enema, we feel he has not been able to clear his entire stomach and his stomach looks bloated. He has also developed an aversion to pass stools. He is scared to eat anything as , as soon as he eats, his bowels begin to move and he fears that he needs to pass stools. Could you please recommend any mild medicine and dosage which will help loosen up his stools so that we can remove the fear off his head. He was given Duphalac (10ml at night) but that doesn't look to be helping much.

hi.. thanks for using HCM..
your child was given antibiotics, and later developed constipation..
give probiotics for 7 days, and meanwhile encourage the child to take more fluids, give boiled vegetables..
start multivitamins..
see your paediatrician for the prescription of laxatives and dose for usage..
all the very best.
