Severe Pain In The Leg After A Fall. Is There A Hematoma Or Fracture?

My girlfriend. Fell off her bike last week! She is in severe discomfort in the lower leg (tibialis anterior), she is struggling to walk and any weight baring and the area is very tender to touch! Pain occurs with muscle contraction and stiffens up when sitting still!

I suggested that it could be one of three things however wanted to know the treatment, or recovery options.
I though it could either be: a fracture to the fibular (hairline), a hematoma, or compartment syndrome! I appreciate that without seeing it its hard to tell! However didn't want to spend 4 hours in A&E / ER to be told its one of these!

Thank you for the help!

Hi

Thanks for asking.

She needs an immediate x ray of the both the lower limb bones to reach the diagnosis.

Hairline fracture, ligamental damage or the tendon inflammation are the few things which comes to mind .

I think it is wise to get it assessed as it is already one week , as some of the abnormalities can have severe repercussions if left untreated .

Thanks.
