Scheduled With Robotic Hysterectomy For Huge Fibroid On Uterus Will Remove The Ovary. Symptoms Of Menopause. Shrink Naturally?

I am scheduled to have a robotic hysterectomy for a huge fibroid on my uterus and they will remove the one ovary that I have left. The other one was removed with the tube 30 years ago. I spoke to a ARNP today who said if you go to a gyn they always want to do a hysterectomy because they are surgeons. I have no symptoms other than menopause as I am post menopause now for 3 years. I take no hormones and now this person said it would naturally shrink over time?? what.??? Just trying to make the right decision.

Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,
I can appreciate your concern regarding surgery, but you have large fibroid and postmenopausal, undergoing a surgery is one of the good option as it improves quality of life.

There are indications for surgery no doctor will operate without indication, you can always discuss with your surgeon.

It is true that you do not have symptoms rightnow usually urinary incontinence, infections,Painful intercourse and psychological disturbance is seen.

If there is no response to non-surgical intervention, hysterectomy may be beneficial to their overall health and wellness.

ovarian cancer risk after hysterectomy appears to be substantially lowered.
Hope this helps in making right decision.

Wish you good luck and speedy recovery.
Take care.
