Repeated Sinusitis, Have Facial Pain, Nasal Stuffiness, Muscal Thickening, Retention Cyst. On Quinolones, Gemifloxacin. Treatment?

hi doctor:since 3 months,i've got repeated sinusitis & took 4 courses of antibiotics including quinolones;gemifloxacin ,last course was for 10 days.but have got facial pains in upper jaw ,rt cheek & ear pain ,also in rt temporal region &skull.the pain was relieved by analgesics but i got also rt. nasal stuffiness & post nasal drip moslly clear & thin .i recently made CT scan on sinuses & it revealed rt. mucsal thickening & retention cyst in rt.maxillary sinus.the doctor prescribed tegretol 200mg tab.once daily for 45 days +norgisec tab.also once daily for 20 days & he said that this is not a symptomatic treatment but curative as it will eventually shrink the cyst ,which is not big,& that the ms.relaxant will relief the spasm in the nasal smooth muscles to assist treatment.i need ur opinion ,doctor,please.lot of thanks. N.B.:i am 46 ys.old & have nasal allergy my whole life.

Hello,
I could not make out that you have not taken steroid orally or as nasal sprays.?
Allergy treatment depends a lot on oral steroids.
You must consult your ENT specialist and discuss about it.
In addition your ENT specialist can tell if there is any anatomic deformity and which can be corrected surgically.
Till then you can start of by taking decongestant tablets .
I have no idea of ms relaxant that relieve the spasm so that cyst decrease in size.so i can not comment on it.
