Reddened Area At The Back Of Throat,little Swelling. Irritates Only When Eating Hot Or Spicy.
Although not painful; it is a reddened area at the back of my throat, a little swelling also. Only if I eat something hot or spicey, then it can be irritated. Iam 76 years young and very healthy otherwise. It is a concern though. Thand you. Anna

Hello Anna,
There is what it seems to be granular pharyngitis .
The little swelling could be granules due to constant irritation in throat.
The reason for constant irritation could be reflux disease.
You are 76 yrs young person at heart (and that is so good to know) , but at 76 yrs of age the muscles become bit weak. the muscles here i refer to is at the lower esophageal sphincter ie at the junction between the food pipe and stomach.
The muscles are not able to stop the acid reflux from stomach in food pipe.
You need to take --
Antacid tablet +Domperidone
Syp. antacid gel 2 tsf two times a day half an hour before meals
multivitamin twice daily
Keep head end of bed elevated.
Avoid alcohol, Smoking
Do brisk walking daily
Go for walk after dinner
Avoid spicy food
Avoid late night coffee
