Red, Hot Flushed Cheeks, Dryness, Peeling, Had Flu. Used Body Oil. What Is The Cause? Is It Parvovirus?
For the past 2 days I have had bright red hot flushed cheeks - it is also dry and slightly peeling. Tought it might be from not using my normal facial products and using a body oil on my face instead whilst travelling. Not sunburn as I very seldom burn having olive skin. The cheeks feel hot to touch. Of relevance - 40 minute flight the day before the rash started; feel well in my self though, walked 4km today. Currently I am 26 weeks pregnant. For the previous 2 weeks I had a cold that I couldn't shake. What might be the probable causes please? Also, should I see my doctor or midwife about this? I'm not sure if it could be parvovirus b19 as my partner had a really bad case of flu for 3 days which he normally wouldn't complain about (unusual I know, however he's not a complainer). It was a bad case of flu because he took 8 paracetamol in one day when normally he won't take anything. My flu started about 4 days later.
Red hot flushed cheeks after a history of flu suggest a parvo virus infection.
Slapped cheek appearance is the classical name given for rash.
It does not cause any birth defects ,but there is a chance of miscarrige if infection occurs between 9 to 20 weeks of pregnancy.
It is better to consult your doctor. He will do a blood test to confirm the infection and if it is positive then serial ultrasounds will be done to rule out any complication in pregnancy.
I hope this will solve your problem.Take care.
