HI I am 28 yr old female, have a baby of 1 yr. Had pain before 3 yrs in the left wrist while rotating from side to side. was asked to wear a crepe band and was asked to take tab A to Z. did that for a month and the pain disappeared. Now i have similar pain in the right wrist. the pain is contained after taking nucoxia. but after doing some strenous work the pain comes back. this is now for 3 months. consulted a doc recently. have been precribed Tendo care, A to z, pain relief creame and crepe band. Initial diag. DRUJ . unable to identify cause. review is after 20 days... Do i need to do anything else. an x.ray?? Am able to rotate the wrist clockwise and anti clock wise with pain. while rotating am able to feel the click- click sound in the bones.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for the inquiry
As per the complaints it seems that you have Wrist Joint sprain – which can occur by a forceful twist, lifting a heavy weight, sports/ job injury or due to a fall with the Palmar aspect touching the ground.. This is due to the trauma of the cartilage and ligaments (tearing) around the wrist joint on the inner aspect (ulnar side).
Medically it is called as Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex Injury (TFCC) – the stabilization of the wrist joint is damaged
The injury is suspected by careful history, X-Ray, MRI or Arthrogram with dye injection.
The injured cartilage may not heal.
The only point to note is, initially you had pain in your left wrist, now you are complaining of pain in the right wrist. You might have had injury simultaneously with less injury on the right side or injury might have occurred on the right side later
Treatment is only symptomatic like Splints and Casts (immobilization), not lifting heavy weight, rest to the joint as much as possible and pain killers –
If not relieved local hydrocortisone injection.
If not relieved by the above measures Arthroscopic Surgery – to remove the torn tissue or to suture the torn tissue.
Consult the orthopedic surgeon and treat accordingly
Best wishes for you

Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Sunil Kumar Srivastava's  Response
Consult ortho surgeon. Local infiltration of hydrocortisone with xylocain is tried for relief. Use of supportive medicines , wrist band should continue
