Reason For Sore Throat, Headache, And Fast Pulse Of Child?
Hi, My 17 year old daughter has a sore throat and is saying(writing)it hurts to talk. She also has a headache and has a fast beating pulse. Can someone tell me what might be wrong? I have already scheduled a doctors appointment for tomorrow, but should I should take her to a doctor right now or wait? Also is it safe to give her something for her headache? As a little girl she had an upper respiratory infection before. Thank you, a scared parent
I'm sorry your daughter is not feeling well. You are describing very common symptoms. She most likely has an infection in her throat. These infections are typically accompanied by headache and sometimes stomach ache. The fast pulse can be caused by any infection. The infection may be viral, in which case will resolve on its own. It may, however, be bacterial, in which case antibiotic will be needed. In either case, this is not considered very serious. Your doctor will differentiate between the two and prescribe the appropriate treatment. In the meantime, comforting measures, such as fluids and rest, are recommended.
