Rash Due To Wearing Jewellery. Applied Hydrocortisone. What Should I Do?

I had worn a silver necklace and my neck began to get irritated. I stopped wearing it and my neck got a little better. However, it was not completely healed. I then worked out and sweated quite a bit and now the rash is much worse. I believe that the hair product that I use ran down my neck and irritated the rash that was already there and made it worse. I am applying hydrocortisone, however it does not appear to be helping much. What should I do?

Hi, thanks for your query.
You seem to have developed contact dermatitis to the jewellery. It is most commonly due to nickel which is used in jewellery.
Sweat and hair products acted as counter irritants leading to irritant dermatitis.
You May do as follows:
-Use a mild cleansing agent.
-Don't rub or scratch the area, instead take an anti histamine if it itches.
-Use a moderate potency steroid like momatosone twice a day on prescription.
-Avoid exercise and work out till it completely heals.
-Avoid sun exposure.
-Avoid wearing the jewellery (the allergy will last through out life).

Hope this helps you.
Wish you a speedy recovery.

Hello,
Thanks for the query.
You have developed an allergic reaction to the jewellary.
Its good that you are applying hydrocortisone.
If you are not getting any response with this probably you will need a stronger steroid cream and may be oral steroid.

Let me know if you have any other doubt.
