Puss And Blood Filled Sores On Top Of Head, Itch If Broken. What Could This Be ?

33yr old male been having puss sometimes blood filled sores on the top of my head. Started with one several years ago , treated it with amoxisillin said some kind of infection. Came back the next year to a doctor with 3 more sores or boils on my head and again they treated with amoxisillin. Following year again I came back but now with 5 or 6. Now I ask the doctor and the dermatologist and they say they don't know what is. They don't even do a swab test to test for infection or virus or desease. This tear I have like 12-15 on my head. I can smoothly run my hand over my scalp and get a hand ful of puss. Before they break open they extremely painfully an itch. What could this be? It is very scary

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query,

I understand it could be disturbing going to a dermatologist and leaving without a response. However, I still think much can be done.

It is imperative in my opinion to have an atcual diagnosis. The recurrence of the infection could imply it is treated poorly or inappropriately with wrong medication, or shorter than required duration, wrong germ is being targeted or there is a predisposing condition that needs to be identified. It might be necessary to screen for common causes of immune depression like HIV and diabetes. Then a sample of the pus could be sent to the laboratory for culture and germ sensitivity testing.

I am afraid You might also have to change your dermatologist for a second opinion. Thanks and hope this helps.
