Pulsating Noise While Lying Down, Matches With Heart Beat In Rhythm. Doing Regular Exercise. Reason?

Hi, I am 55 years old , not overweight, drink... probably more than I should, walk/run/lift weights almost every day, and have a pulsating noise usually when I lay down. It matches up with my heart beat in rythum. My blood pressure was good last time it was checked. it was border line before that, not more than a month ago.

Hi and thanks for the query,
It is not unusual to observe pulsations in some parts of the body. It is not necessary to bother especially if they match heart beat, for one really can t change it. However, it is necessary to distinguish these pulsations from twitches or abnormal involuntary contractions which could be of neurologic origin or arise from electrolyte imbalance. You deserve a complete clinical review however, chest X ray, electtrocardiogramme and a cardiac ultrasound.
Examination by an internist to get a holistic idea of your health condition would be desirable. I do not however think its something serious.
Kind regards, Bain MD
