Pregnant. Tested Positive For Coagulase. Have UTI, Pain While Urination, Lower Abdominal Pain. Right Medication?

Hello,
I have been suffering since Feb from a UTI including pain on urination, lower abdominal pain, chills, exhaustion. Finally I have found a decent doctor who has told me I have tested positive for coagulase negative staph and ureaplasma. The problem is I am now pregnant! Which anti-biotics can I take?

Many thanks

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

It is important for for you to get urine culture and sensitivity test done to know which antibiotics will work for you. After that you must discuss with your doctor which antibiotic is safe during pregnancy with minimum side effects. Drink lots of water and visit washroom frequently. Keep your genital area clean and dry and wash the area twice a day with warm water.

Hope this helps
