Pounding Heart, Feeling Of Skipping A Heartbeat, Stress And Tiredness Due To Hectic Lifestyle. Serious?
I have noticed lately that my heart appears to b 'pounding' its like its doing what it normally dose but having to push itself to do so. Sometimes it feels like it has skipped a beat, i loose my breath for a split second then it gives an almighty pound and then continues to pound on. I have put it down to stress and tired ness for the time being as I went from a stay at home mum to a 47.5 hour a week job that i started last week. I'm worried? in not a big girl and not particularly lazy, i e no medical problems and am not on any medication. my new job is office based so I do a lot of sitting down, in used to being up n about maybe that's what it is.
Dear Ma'm Thanks for writing to us. The Extra beats or premature contraction may occur with stress. It is well known. Mostly they are benign. However it would be an oversimplification at times. We must get an ECG or holter monitoring done to identify the rhythm disorder and then a cardiac ultrasound to rule out structural heart diseases. If both are normal or not dangerously abnormal, We will look at stress as a possible cause. Sincerely Sukhvinder
