Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
First of all I would like to tell you that
cirrhosis is an irreversible condition.
The only definitive treatment is
liver transplantation.
If liver transplantation is not possible, then the treatment is aimed at controlling the complications like blood
vomiting, accumulation of fluid in the abdomen and legs, poor
kidney function, poor functioning of brain (
encephalopathy) etc.
The symptom he had was due to encephalopathy.
Since he has recovered from encephalopathy now, he needs to continue with medications called diuretics( which increases urination) and betablockers (that reduce the pressure in the blood vessel to liver).
He needs to take salt restricted diet and medications if his bowel movements are not good.
I hope that answers your question.
Regards.
