Pain In Upper Right Abdomen, Hurts While Lying Down, Moving. Taking Medication For Diabetes. Treatment?
i have pain in my upper right abdomen . it never hurts while i am laying down, but it hurts when i sit or move a certain way. It has bee about 2 months now and i am 74 years old. i am female with diabetis which i take a pill for every day. i had diverticlitis a few years ago but it went away with antibiotics . please advise me what to do

have you any aggravating factor like after taking meal or relieved after defecation or in empty stomach?
any history of passage of loose stool ?
the pain may be due to chronic calculus cholecystitis,ch.pancreatitis,diverticulitis,PUD,non ulcer dyspepsia or some form of malabsorption.
you may take pantoprazole 20 mg 12 hourly.
if it is progressing then go for an USG or consult a gastroenterologist.

pain in upper abdomen in upright posture localized in right half at 74 in a diabetic definitely calls for attention .get an ultra sound scan of abdomen done .there could be a mass under the diaphragm , in liver. possibility of fatty liver also needs to be ruled out. gall bladder pathology should also be considered .
