Pain In Throat, Feeling Of First Portion Of Food Stuck In Throat, Longer Time To Go Down. Can Liquids Or Small Bites Taken First?

When the bolus gets stuck in my throat, it takes about 10-20 seconds to go down. During that time, I get dizzy and a pain in my throat. I almost feel like I will faint. But then the bolus goes down and I recover and feel normal again. The bolus is usually made up of lumpy bread or potato, and is the first portion of food introduced after not eating for several hours. Should I first inroduce some liquid or small bites of food to avoid this problem?

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
I would come up with these possibilities for this type of dysphagia ( difficulty in deglutition ),these includes.
1 Folding in esophagus , diagnosis can be confirmed by esophagoscope .As I have noted in many patient that when they try to swallow something , stuck sometimes and there develops chocking sensation. This sensation develops dizziness and pain.
2 Pharyngeal tumor , diagnosis can be confirmed by laryngoscope examination.
3 Narrowing opening of esophagus may be the next reason . Diagnosis can be confirmed by E N T expert.
In my opinion consult an E N T specialist and get his opinion as physical examination is very important in this case.
