Pain In Ribs, Shoulder Blade. Hurts To Take Deep Breaths. Taking PT For Rotator Cuff Tendonitis. Cause?

In January of this year I received PT for left rotator cuff tendonitis . With ongoing stretching at home I now have about 85% mobility and hardly any pain. This morning I woke up with pain in my left front ribs and sore to the touch between left shoulder blade and spine . It hurts to take deep breaths. It was especially cool last night (40s) and I slept with one window open and door closed. Could this be the cause? I also went to the driving range and hit a bucket of balls yesterday, but had absolutely no pain upon retiring to bed. I am a 70 year old female.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The increase in pain on taking a deep breath can be due to a lung related cause. It is best to get an MRI scan of the area done to pin point the cause of symptoms.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
