Pain In Joints And Muscles, Fingers. All Tests Normal

Hi, I m a 26 years old female, I m having pain (from mild to moderate) in my joints and muscles (ankle, knee, wrist , arm, and pelvic area); some times I have slight pain in my fingers too. The pain is worse in the morning, I am unable to go to work many times. It s also bad at night before sleeping , and it gets worse with cold weather. Sleeping , and sitting in hot tub makes it a bit better. The pain started when I was 17 , as burning pain in my ankles and knees - and now the pain feels like joint burning and muscle aches, without swelling. In addition, I feel exhausted most of the time even if I m not feeling any pain ,and I find it hard to concenrate. My Urine Analysis, Complete Blood Picture, X-Rays on legs, Liver function tests(SGPT( ALT ),SGOT(AST)), Serum Creatinine , Blood Urea , Serum Calcium came normal . My ESR blood test came as 20 mm/hr first hour and 42 mm/hr second hour. What I m I suffering from , I feel this is affecting my social life, marriage, and work.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.

You are suffering from polyarthitis, the cause of this might be Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus), psoriatic arthritis, Infectious arthritis or crystal deposition arthritis.

To allow me to help you better, please let me know if you also have any of the following complaints:

Pain and stiffness that last for more than an hour upon arising
Bilateral symmetrical involvement of hands and feet joints
Hand joints and feet joints that are warm and tender to touch
History of viral illness like chikungunya.
Flu-like feeling
Finger and toe joints that "creak" when moved; this is called crepitus
Deformities in finger and toe joints
Fatigue that is not easily resolved
Presence of malar rash and photosensitivity
Presence of raised patches or lesions of dead skin cells (psoriosis).

I would also like to give some advice to make the life better and to fight with these pains-

Do regular physiotherapy of joints.
Hot fomentation to decrease the joint stiffness
Hot bath of Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate)-Magnesium has both anti-inflammatory and anti- arthritic properties and it can be absorbed through the skin.

Wishing you good health...
Regards.
Dr Saurabh Gupta.
