General & Family Physician, Dr. Nirmala P's Response
The pain you are experiencing is not related to any specific cause or time. It seems to be radiating to neck and jaw regions. To rule out severe conditions, the following investigations needs to be done.
1. chest X-RAY Both AP & Lat view
2. Complete Haemogram
3.Blood urea, sugar, Serum creatinine, C-Reactive protien, ASO Titre.
4.ECG
If these are found to be normal, then you may be suffering from myalgia or costochondritis. Both are mild conditions that can be treated with simple analgesics (pain killers). Myalgia is muscular pain spreading to the other regions of the involved muscle. Costochondritis is inflamation of a portion of the rib. Tab. Paracetamol 500mg three times a day for 5 days will help.
