Pain In Chest, Better After Exercise, Painful While Making Sudden Movements. Costochondritis?

hello, my boyfriend has major pain between his chest, it started about a year or 2 ago when he coughed so much while he was smoking a cigarette, i eventually made a sound every morning because it was painful and thats the only way he could get the pain to calm down, It got better after exercising every morning but now its hectically bad, it pains when he breathes in, cough or making any sudden movements like sleeping, or waking up. I did a lil research and i found Costochondritis which has similar symptons and causes to what he has.
