One Month Old Having Difficulty In Bowel Movements. On Breast Feeding. Need Medication?
Hi Dr santosh, My baby is 1 month and 4 days old. he passes motions(stool) 7-8 times in a day. And some times while passing motions he faces little difficulty and some times explodes. Apart from that he passes water stool (very little quantity ) more often at least 5-6 times in a day. Passing urine is around 14-15 times in a day. i am feeding him every 2-2.5 hours. he is completely on breast feeding. Is this normal or does he requires any medication. Please suggest. Regards Shilpa

One Month Old Having Difficulty In Bowel Movements. On Breast Feeding. Need Medication?
Hi Shilpa, Thanks for writing to health care magic. Congratulations on breast feeding your baby. You are doing the right thing that most of the mothers around are missing and failing to do. If your baby is exclusively breast fed you need not really worry about his stool. A breast fed baby may pass up to 7 to 8 stool per day and some times they may not pass any stool for 3 to 4 days. You can just feed your baby by demand and need not really go with a watch to feed your baby. You may contact me with further details on the following URL........... http://www.healthcaremagic.com/Funnel?page=askDoctorDirectly&docId=65124 In such scenario the questions are directly forwarded to me .............. and I can answer your queries regarding your baby online regularly. Hope this helps. Take care Dr Y V Siva Sankara Murty M.D.(Pediatrics) Associate Professor of Pediatrics
