On And Off Feeling Of Muscle Strain On Outside Of Neck Near Adam S Apple. Can Advil Be Taken?
I have what feels like a muscle strain on the outside of my neck on the left side of my adam's apple. It started after a severe coughing attack about 2 months ago. It doesn't hurt to swallow, I am not hoarse, no lumps or swelling in the area nor is the pain persistent. It happens randomly - usually when I am talking very loudly or if I turn my head to the right and talking to someone behind me. It doesn't do it when I swallow either. It feels like a little prick that lasts about 1-2 seconds and then goes away. It may happen 2-3 times in a day or it may not happen at all for a couple of days. It is definitely outside the adam's apple - not near the lymph nodes and not near the thyroid gland. Would it be okay to treat it with an OTC anti inflammatory like advil for a week or so?
