Noticed A Painful Lump On The Jaw Bone

I have a lump on my jaw bone on one side near where my jaw and neck meet and it is a little bit painful when i press my chin to my chest or when i put pressure on the area (the jaw strap of my helmet hurts to wear sometimes). What are some possible explanations?

Hi. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
I read your query. What is the duration of the existence of this lump? Has it happened before? Check for any cavity in corresponding tooth in lower jaw. If there is, then you may have space infection due to tooth.
If there is dry mouth or less saliva, then it could be salivary gland stone or cyst.
Or it can be some swollen lymph nodes as well. Visit a dentist and get it checked for appearance, consistency, texture, etc. Proper oral check, history, radiographs are required to establish a diagnosis.
In any case swelling below jaw should not be ignored as they tend to spread fast posing a threatto wind pipe. I suggest you see a dentist and get it treated.
Hope the answer helps you. Thank you!
