No Bowel Movements For Days, Changed Diet. Have Bloated Feeling. Is Something Blocking My Intestine?

Hello - I am 42, approx. 20 years ago when I visited a GP and said that I went emptied my bowels approximately every 4 days he said what is normal for one is not normal for another. I have changed my diet lost weight eat fruit and veg, drink fresh fruit drinks, don't eat as much carb to stop my bloated feelings as I was getting cramp. I was given drinks to help movement but I felt sick, took senna but that does not help, the only thing that shifts my poo is sepositories which my GP will not prescribe as they say it is not natural movement. I am constantly bunged up and it will not come out for days. Do you think there is something blocking my intestines?

Hello,
You are suggesting from severe constipation.
The remedy lies in eating plenty of fresh fruits and green vegetables.
Instead of fruit juices, take more of fruits and drink plenty of plain water.
Do regular exercises for at least 45 minutes a day.
Add psyllium husk in your diet for increasing the fibre in your diet in dose of 15 gms twice a day.
Avoid non vegetarian food,as it tends to cause constipation.
It would be good,if you start doing yoga as it would help you a lot.
There are plenty of OTC laxatives which can be taken but they are of use for only short periods like a week or two.
Prolonged use of laxatives tend to loose their efficacy and cause rebound constipation.
Your answer lies in patience and lifestyle changes as suggested above.
Thanks
