My wife age 72 diagnosed with copd has a rapid heart rate of over 120 with low blood pressure of 106/63. Gets very short winded with the least bit of exertion but settles back down with rest. Oxygen level drops into the 80 s at first then slowly rises to the 90 s no pain just cannot breathe

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion you should immediately consult pulmonologist and hoapitalise her as she is having tachycardia, low oxygen level and hypotension.
All suggest worsening of underlying COPD.
The most common cause for this is infection.
So we need to rule out this first. Chest x ray is needed for this.
She needs low dose oxygen, intravenous fluids, bronchodilators, antibiotic and steroids too.
So better to consult pulmonologist and start treatment as soon as possible.
