Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic. I read carefully your query and I understand your concern.
You are taking Lipitor 20 mg for your high level of
cholesterol, Lipitor(
Atorvastatin)is a good choice for reducing levels of "bad" cholesterol (
low-density lipoprotein, or LDL) and triglycerides in the blood, while increasing levels of "good" cholesterol (
high-density lipoprotein or HDL) and also low the risk of coronary heart diseases e.g. IM that you mentioned for your father. The Lipitor taken should monitories with
lipid profile lab test to show if there is the need to increase the dosage or not and also the liver function lab test every three months.
You can add to your medication
Aspirin 100 mg, you can use both Lipitor and Aspirin for prevent the coronary heart disease, these because you have a family history for IM.
I recommend you to have a healthy diet (fruits, vegetables, fish and eliminate the consummation of red meat only one or two time per week) and doing minimally 30 minutes of walking every day, also you should maintain a normal weight for height you should monitor your weigh and especially the
abdominal obesity that increase the risk for coronary heart diseases.
I recommend also to have a routinely meetings with your cardiologist.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Kind regard,
Dr .Marsida JANKO
