Need Treatment For Expanded Liver
Hi hope you can help me My 75 year old father has been diagonsed with an expanded liver He had a ultra scan and had liver function tests ( which were high) He has been for a CT scan but we have drawn a blank as both my GP and the hospital won t provide the results my dad has yellow eyes, has lost alot of weight, has pains in the base of his foot and has lot his appetite. He is also under morfin tablets due to regular dvt problems Would you be able to advise what steps we need to take next as we are very concerned Thanks Paul Jeffers

Your father findings suggests raised liver enzymes and enlarged liver.
Enlarged liver(hepatomegaly) may be due to many reasons like hepatitis,fatty liver,tumour etc.
It is important to know which parameters of liver function test are raised.
Hepatomegaly is most likely related to hepatitis in your father's case as he has yellow eyes.
He may need few more investigations like routine hemogram,random blood sugar,viral markers.
He should avoid fatty food.Proper treatment depend upon findings.
