Periodontal disease arises due to several reasons , most common reason is poor oral hygiene
, deposition of bacterial plaqu and calculus deep in the gum pocket and root surfaces of teeth .
accumultion of granulation tissue and infected debris in the gum pockets that leads to gingival recession
and bone loss .
Medical reasons like DIABETES
, THYROID problems also contribute in periodontal diseases.
Dont worry dental problems can be managed effectively with proper treatment , there is no risk of emergencies or life thretening.
i would suggest you to get an OPG radiograph done , which will show the periodontal health accordingly treatment can be carried out by a periodontist.
meantime you can use antiseptic mouthwash like chlorhexidine
for oral rinsing which helps in prevention of infection.
oral ointment topically over the gums .
i hope this helps,
