Need Medication For Hypertrophied Nasal Turbinates On One Side Of Nose
my both sons have hypertrophied nasal turbinates on one side of the nose, which makes the breathing difficult on that side and they breathe through mouth always.most of the time they sneeze when some thing touches on their nose .what is the best treatment for this
Hi, thanks for your query. In my opinion, your both sons might have nasal allergy. Hypertrophied nasal turbinates with nose block, mouth breathing, sneezing all goes in favour of allergic rhinitis. Treatment is steroidnasal spray, fluticasone propionate/mometazone furoate , twice a day will help to reduce the size of turbinates. Along with this you can take antihistamines + antileukotriene drugs like monteleukast Once a day for 2 months. For adults, if the turbinates doesn't shrink with medicines we advise surgery to excise the partial turbinates. For children it is not advisable upto 18 years of age.
