Need For Concern About Lesion On Forearm While Recovering From Hip Surgery?
My husband has spina is an amputee and is recovery from hip surgery, so we do body checks for bed sores ect. Last nite I noticed on his upper middle of back between shoulder blades a light red blotchy circle with regular skin the size of a quarter on the inside. We decided we would keep an I on it, approx 1 hour ago noticed the same type of formation on his right forearm between wrist and elbow. Should we be concerned, keep an eye on?

Your partner seem to be developing lesions of urticarial skin reaction .
These are basically an allergic type of skin reaction .
Such lesions are common in patients post operatively since they can occur as a reaction to intake of oral antibiotics or painkillers .
I would advise you to see your treating doctor as soon as possible so as to discuss this possibility .
In the mean time, he can start intake of some oral antihistamine like claritin for the associated itching .
