Neck Injury, Lump At Top Of Spine, Painful To Move Neck. No Nausea Or Fainting. Doctor Needed?

Last night my daughter was playing musical chairs and someone pulled out her chair as she was sitting down and she hit the back of her neck where the neck and head meet. She has a lump at the top of her neck or spine and it hurts to move her neck. She did not pass out, she does not feel like she will throw up but is in a lot of pain. Should she see a doctor or just ice it for a few days?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The presence of a lump at the top of spine may be due to a bone injury or a soft tissue swelling. This needs a direct examination by a physician as injuries of such types might have delayed symptoms also.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
