My Mother Was Going To The Doctor For Transient Ischemic
My mother was going to the doctor for transient ischemic attacks when she had a brain hemorrhage in 2008. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with CADASIL. Around that same time (when I was 16), I started experiencing migraines with aura and mood disorders (anxiety and depression). I was on a triptan medication for a while to manage my migraine pain but I started getting dull, persistent headaches in between my migraines as a result of using the meds too often to treat migraine pain. So I stopped using the prescription meds and for a while was only using over the counter medications such as Ibuprofen and Excedrin. These didn't help as much with the pain, only dulled the migraine. In 2012 I moved to Colorado and got my medical marijuana card for the migraines. Using tinctures has helped immensely with my migraine pain and in the last year or so I have also been juicing raw marijuana every morning because I read lots of articles about how consuming the non-psychoactive compounds in raw cannabis can prevent seizures (which I may be prone to due to CADASIL). I have also read articles and studies about how marijuana therapy can also result in increased brain function after a stroke. My question is: is it safe for me to use marijuana for its psychoactive and non-psychoactive compounds to manage my CADASIL symptoms or are there risks involved specifically with marijuana use and CADASIL?
