My Husband Just Went To The Dentist And Was Diagnosed
My husband just went to the dentist and was diagnosed with an abscessed tooth. He did not inform the dentist that he has Graves disease and although he had radio active iodine treatment, his six week labs last week revealed his TSH is 0.006 and T3/T4 still extremely high. he will be traveling out of the country beginning this Wednesday and I'm concerned: 1. He had a crown placed today with numbing medicine; while he was there they diagnosed the abscess of another tooth hurting. Should we be concerned about the dental medicine he received? 2. He wants to wait until his travels are complete in three weeks to get the root canal. I'm concerned that the infection from the abscess could trigger a thyroid storm since he can't get the Rx meds for the tooth until tomorrow and both the dentist office and the endocrinology office are now closed. Is it okay to wait until tomorrow to call his endocrinologist about the risks associated with these factors combined and since dentist aren't on call, I have no way of knowing what the local anesthesia contains that could potentiate a thyroid storm.
