My Husband Had A Stroke On Feb. 9th. He Is

My husband had a stroke on Feb. 9th. He is taking Amlodipine 5mg. I have been taking his blood pressure and it varies, as high as 156/84 and as low as 128/73. It was 235/101 in the hospital. He is experiencing physical feelings, general ill feelings (not every day). After getting out of the hospital he had an appointment at the walk-in clinic with a PA. When he was describing his symptoms, thinking it might be the cholesterol medication (which he only took one pill and hasn't resumed taking them yet), she stated that she didn't think that the cholesterol meds were the cause. She increased the Amlodipine to 10mg. After some research my husband is concerned that the increase will increase the negative symptoms that he occasionally is having. We just want to know if that is possible and how to handle this. Is this normal when getting used to blood pressure meds?
