My Daughter Is 10 Years Old. She Was Playing The

My daughter is 10 years old. She was playing the game 4 square at school, she planted her foot to catch the ball and turned at the knee, when she did this she heard the sound similar to a rubber band snapping and she had immediate pain and swelling. This happened on September 23rd, we finally took her in to the E.R. on October 3rd because she was at the point where she could not bare weight on that leg or bend her knee. The E.R. put her in a splint so her knee would be stable., They did take an xRAY, but there was not a break, so they referred us to the Orthopedic. on October 7th, we saw the ortho dr., she thought it was a bruised knee cap or strain and sent us to physical therapy. She mentioned an MRI as last resort, but thought the PT would work. After her p.t appointment on the 7th, she was in severe pain all weekend. She did a little of the exercises at home, but her range of motion seemed to get worse. She went in again today for another Pt appointment, she did well and seemed to make progress, but towards the end of the appointment it was severe pain again, and she was in tears. Tonight, she has continued to be in severe pain, we did try the exercises at home and she did bend her knee a little, but she said it only feels good (she gave that an 8 on the pain scale) when it is stretched out. Otherwise it is a 10 for sure. She stopped after awhile because she could not do the exercises anymore. They told us there is not a chance really of her tearing an ACL or anything like that, but when I go and check her symptoms of what is happening that is exactly what comes up. IS it possible for a 10 year old to tear an ACL?
