Anesthesiologist Dr. Shivakumar. M. C.'s  Response
Hi scot,
Persistant dry cough in children with normal x ray lungs is strongly suggest dry varient bronchial asthama, other less common condition may be post nasal dripping, but I strongly suspect dry varient bronchial asthama especial if family history is present, this can be treated with inhalational bonchodilators and steroids vary effectively. Consult your peiatrician and suggest my opinion.
Take care
