My 88 Year Old Mother Was Just Prescribed Gabapentin For

My 88 year old mother was just prescribed gabapentin for neuropathy. She increased her dosage from 100 mg daily to 200 mg daily and didn't have any drowsiness or dizziness, which she feared as she lives alone. Unfortunately, the pain didn't get any better so she just increased her dosage to 400 mg daily yesterday. I just spoke with her on the phone (she lives in Florida and I live in Maine) and she sounded very groggy. Her speech seemed odd but that could just have been because she was so tired. Will these symptoms lessen as she gets used to this dosage? Should she contact her doctor?

thank you,
babsy
