Muscle Pull In Leg,severe Pain Behind Knee

I felt a pull in my leg about 14 days ago while walking, considering it a slight twist I ignored it, but the pain continued behind my knee . I have tried all kinds of massage gels like volini etc but it does not seem to go away. Now it has affected my knee as well and is causing a lot of pain, esp when trying to sit/stand. Please suggest which doctor should I consult.

Hi

Sometimes you can strain a muscle or sprain a ligament due to a twist or sudden stretching of muscles or ligaments. I believe there should not be any bony injury and would suggest you to consult a physician to examine you and possibly refer you for X ray knee(AP/LAT view).
A sprain or strain can result due to sudden pull or stretch sometimes not recognized at the time of injury but you do feel at some time later.
I would recommend you to have cold compresses and application of anti inflammatory cream or sprays along with some oral muscle relaxant and a pain killer (NSAID) combination. Also I would recommend you to elevate your limb and and have the limb at rest for a week or ten days so as to hasten healing.
The earlier you get your problem evaluated by a doctor through physical examination the better it would be because some conditions look very simple on reading or listening to people than actually seen by an expert.
Thanks and hope this helps
