Hello!
Thank you for asking on HCM!
I read your question carefully and understand your concern.
His symptoms seem to be related to TIA (
transient ischemic attack), which is a temporary occlusion of a brain vessel. As you refer, the brain MRI has not reveled any brain lesions (compatible with a
stroke).
The most concerning thing is the
aneurysm detected. I would like to know its diameter.
From different studies, small and medium diameter aneurysms, which have not been ruptured, have a low risk of bleeding and don't need to be treated.
I recommend a close monitor of his blood pressure and avoid
high blood pressure episodes.
Another issue, is the results of his tests, which have been performed to establish the possible cause of TIA.
Although in his situation with the aneurysm, the possible use of anticoagulants, would increase the risk of
intracranial hemorrhage.
I recommend consulting with his attending physician on his test results.
A statin would be helpful to prevent another TIA and would make no harm to the aneurysm.
Hope to have been of help!
Best wishes,
Dr. Iliri
