Lumps On Left Side Of Neck. Movable, Painful, Spreading. What Could It Be?
hi my 11 year old had 3 lumps growing on her left side of her neck (no redness) no colour change in skin just movable lumps visibal under the skin that are very painfull been to doctors and they said swollen glands but now only a week on they are still growing and more have appeard spreading down her neck she has 5 now, moving her head is painfull she has no allergys no cold no sore throut nothing been told to just take pain killers everyday
thanks for posting your query,
From your description your daughter is presenting with multiple lymphadenopathy which are most probably due an infection (viral or bacterial or mycobacterial but rarely fungal). You need to get her examined by a pediatrician. Pain killers will not help if there is an infection that needs to be treated. Bacteria or mycobacterium are the most probable because of length of time your daughter has been suffering and the spreading pattern following lymph nodes. Some blood tests need to be done for signs of infection.
Also important to rule out a possible malignancy (lymphoma) which could be very possible (burkitt's in children). So pediatric consultation is recommended as soon as possible.
Hope this helps
