Lump On The Crease Of The Buttocks. Could It Be Melanoma Or Cyst? Treatment?
Hi, I have been having this small lump on the crease of my right buttock (lower part where it meets the upper right thigh). It came about 2 weeks ago.. and then as i thought it was an abscess, i applied Fucidin cream. It went away slowly.. but after 1-2 days, it came back. The colour is slightly darkened than the surrounding skin colour on the buttock. The lump is a little hardened.. not painful but when i sit down it feels a little discomfort on the skin. I havent seen/felt any puss or irritation on the skin so far. I just wonder what it is and if it's something serious like melanoma or is it a cyst? What is the best treatment for this? Thank you very much for any explanation on this.
It may be a melanoma or a cyst. The starting point is an ultrasound of the lesion. It may show the nature of the lesion. Cysts are benign and are usually drained. Aspiration may sometimes cure the cyst. More ominous looking lesions are biopsied. A surgeon may perform the biopsy. For biopsy he may remove the whole lesion or part of it. The remaining treatment will depend on the type of lesion.
